Razzie 2018 nominations: 'Fifty Shades Darker' and 'Transformers: The Last Knight' among the top nominees

Michael Bay's "Transformers" titles have been subject to a lot of nominations for the past years, and the latest movie is no different. Transformers movie website

The 2018 Golden Raspberry Awards nominations are in, and two famous titles headline what could be the "worst film" in 2017.

The Golden Raspberry Awards, or "Razzie" for short, is awarded to films that collect the most number of "razzies." The noir "Batman vs Superman" film, for example, bagged four razzies that made it the "worst film" of 2016. Much like the DC Comics movie, this year's nominees are titles that everyone might be familiar with.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" currently stands atop of the worst films that were nominated. The latest installment of the "Transformers" series by Michael Bay has been nominated to every category, from worst couple to worst picture. While the reason for the film to be nominated for all categories is not necessarily clear, Michael Bay's "Transformers" series has long been criticized. The rather "repetitive" nature of the films is what gives it its bad reputation among fans and movie critics alike.

The steamy yet dark "Fifty Shades Darker," by director James Foley, which was the second installment of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy by novelist E.L James, has been nominated to a total of seven categories. "Fifty Shades Darker" was the sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey," and continued the shaky sexual relationship of billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and writer Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).

The second movie sparked Christian and Anastasia to make amends after the disastrous ending in the first movie, leading to more character development for the couple. Despite a newfound love, Dornan and Johnson were nominated as the worst couple in Razzie Awards.

Both "Transformers: The Last Knight" and "Fifty Shades Darker" were nominated as "worst picture" as well. Joining them would be Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron's movie, "Baywatch." The highly controversial "The Emoji Movie" is also nominated for this award.

As for the "Worst Actor" and "Worst Actress" nominations, the Razzie Awards show no mercy toward high-caliber talents such as Johnny Depp ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales"), Mark Wahlberg ("Transformers: The Last Knight"), and Tom Cruise ("The Mummy"). Jennifer Lawrence ("Mother!"), Dakota Johnson ("Fifty Shades Darker"), and Emma Watson ("The Circle") are also big names nominated for the "Worst Actress" award.

The final results of the 2018 Golden Raspberry Awards will be released a day before its counterpart, The Academy Awards, on Mar. 3.
