Fans won't have to wait long for "Outlander" season 2, according to series lead Sam Heughan, who plays the role of Jaime in the historical drama. After the show was hailed the Radio Times TV Show Champion 2015 just this week, the actor revealed that "Season 2 is almost complete" and that "#Droughtlander is almost over."

A specific premiere date is still to be determined although media outlets have always believed that "Outlander" season 2 will premiere by April, a year after the first season debuted.

While the show has been on air for only a season, fans are already looking forward to learn about how the story will end. Heughan said in a holiday live stream that Diana Gabaldon, who authored the book series from which the Starz show is based upon, is still writing "so we don't really know when it's going to end yet." The actor quipped that only Gabaldon know the answer to that question.

As for the ongoing production for "Outlander" season 2, Heughan stated that they are "really enjoying shooting" and that they are "almost finished." Looking ahead to the show's future, he remarked that "season 3 would be nice."

Rumor has it that in the new season, Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will attend high-class parties in France. Jamie will also meet French noblemen. A promotional photo features Jamie and Claire in the middle of a posh bash. In another photo, the pair was shown holding each other lovingly.

Claire and Jaime will be travelling back to France and into the past to change history and stop the Jacobite rebellion, which sparked a war that killed many and destroyed so much. During their journey, they will reportedly meet their daughter, who have also travelled back in time.

"Outlander" season 2 is expected to premiere April next year.
