The OxygenOS Beta 3 version is now available for testing for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T owners. OnePlus has just released the latest beta update earlier this week, including a few bug fixes and security improvements. However, the main feature of the latest OxygenOS beta is the new navigation gestures, which bear similarities with the hand gestures of the iPhone X.
As reported by Tech Radar, the OxygenOS Beta 3 build for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones introduces a new set of navigation gestures. These hand gestures can be enabled by going to the Settings tab and disabling the navigation bar option. After the navigation bar is removed, the Home button function will be replaced by a swipe up at the center of the lower display.
To go back to the previous page or app, users can swipe up from the left or right portion of the screen. The multitasking option can be spawned by swiping up from the middle part of the lower screen and holding for a few seconds. When accepting or rejecting a call, users can swipe up or down the screen, which is a nice gesture addition as some people often disconnect their calls by mistake when they are trying to pick up. These hand gestures are very similar with the same set of screen commands from the iPhone X, although there are some minor differences.
Another important feature of the OxygenOS Beta 3 version is the removal of the Clipboard app from the OnePlus 5 at OnePlus 5T devices. To recall, many users have complained about the Clipboard app sending user data to a server based in China. OnePlus has then decided to take down the application to pacify the users' concern for data security, GSMArena reported.
The latest OxygenOS beta update has an important security patch to fix the Spectre vulnerability, in which the said security loophole allows hackers to obtain the users' personal data by using malicious programs. Lastly, the OxygenOS Beta 3 includes an auto-sort feature of SMS messages, although this messaging content is only available for users based in India.
