Nintendo NX latest news, rumors: March 2017 release rumored; console will put company 'back in the race'

Nintendo still has not made any official announcements regarding the official release date of their upcoming next generation gaming console, the Nintendo NX. However, the most recent prediction and reports have pegged the release of the device to be sometime during March of 2017.

While the majority of the reports seem to agree on the date as being the most probable, there is still a lot that is unknown about the device and what exactly it would be offering gamers when it will reportedly be released next year.

The console itself was announced last year by the late Satoru Iwata. The announcement was considered by some as an unprecedented move by the company as they don't usually announce a new device more than a year before it is scheduled to be released.

Nintendo, of course, has to make up for lost time as sales of its current gaming system — the Nintendo Wii U — has rapidly declined after the new console was announced to be in development.

According to the latest reports, the new console will either be a make or break product for the company. The company badly needs the NX to succeed as they have been losing ground in the highly competitive video game market.

Fortunately, some fans are enthusiastic about the new console, with some believing that it will be a big hit. This sentiment is apparently shared by Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot who recently mentioned that he "believes Nintendo will be back in the race with the NX."

The new console is rumored to be a hybrid device that will have a dedicated console along with a handheld console marketed as one device. Players will reportedly be able to use either of the devices separately to play their games.

Reports have also revealed that the NX might not be as powerful as the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in terms of hardware. It still remains to be seen how the company will be able to attract players to their new console, despite its slower performance compared to other consoles in the market.
