Nintendo NX latest news: Console to have three components; release date still scheduled for March 2017

Nintendo's next generation console — the Nintendo NX — has been announced to be on track for a March 2017 release date. With the console's release date looming closer, more and more reports have emerged which have revealed some hints on the device's design and possible retail price.

According to the latest reports regarding the new console, the Nintendo NX will apparently be coming in three distinct parts that will all be included in the package. One of the alleged taglines for the console even says "Interact with your game on the go," which probably means that a big part of the console's draw will be its ability to go mobile.

Those who have reportedly gotten their hands on the console mentioned that players would likely still be able to play their game on the main console and then be able to take its portable part with them to continue playing the game while they are away from home.

Reports have revealed that the first part of the console will be its main "dock" which contains a cartridge slot, a hard disk drive, and several outputs. The second component will be a "performance module" that contains the GPU and main CPU as well as its own power supply. The third and final component is a handheld gaming device that will have its own 6-inch 720p display and its own low-TDP processor.

As for the device's possible pricing, a post on Reddit claims that the entire bundle could cost somewhere around $399. However, several other reports claimed that the console may be priced even lower and possibly less than $300. If this indeed turns out to be true, then the Nintendo NX might be something that could rival the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One S in terms of pricing.

Reports have also claimed that demo units should start to become available in stores around February 2017, a month before the unit officially goes on sale.
