Netflix offers new holiday-themed films and Christmas classics

December has arrived and Christmas is just around the corner. As the weather outside becomes chillier by the day, Netflix has lined up an offering of Christmas-themed entertainment that will keep the entire family warm and comfortable this holiday season.

Netflix's lineup of Christmas films includes brand-new titles as well as timeless classics that are fit for the season.

"El Camino Christmas" is a new Netflix Original film that stars Tim Allen, Dax Shepard and Jessica Alba. In the movie, a man decides to take a number of people hostage inside a liquor store right before Christmas. Police officers work to save the hostages and arrest the hostage taker.

A new film that was released only last month is "A Christmas Prince." It is a Christmas romantic comedy film from Alex Zamm. In the movie, a journalist gets sent to a foreign country to report about the future king. However, she ends up getting a makeover and falling in love with the royal.

In 2015's "Carol," Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara embark on a forbidden romance. Set during Christmastime, Blanchett plays the titular character Carol and offers one of the best performances of her stellar career.

Viewers can also find 2000's classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on the streaming service. The movie features comedian Jim Carrey as he plays one of his most iconic roles in the Grinch.

Netflix also has the 1954 classic "White Christmas," a musical romantic comedy that stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. The film is known to be one of the pioneers in widescreen cinema.

Viewers can likewise enjoy the fantasy comedy "Elf" starring comedian Will Ferrell and directed by Jon Favreau. The story revolves around one of Santa's elves who discovers that he is actually a human. He then ventures to New York City to look for his biological father.
