It's been over a month since NetherRealm creative director and "Mortal Kombat" co-creator Ed Boon revealed via Twitter that "Mortal Kombat X" would get a Kombat Pack 2 DLC, yet up to this point the studios have not yet revealed the new characters that the DLC will introduce.

According to a report from PlayStation Universe, Smoke is one of the most likely characters to be included in the Kombat Pack 2 DLC. The character was massively popular in "Mortal Kombat 9" and is also briefly seen during the campaign for "Mortal Kombat X," hinting that it is only a matter of time before he is made a playable character.

The report also speculates that Spawn could be another candidate for the DLC pack. "Spawn" comics creator Todd McFarlane reportedly gave Warner Bros. Entertainment the rights to use Spawn for their game, but the offer is only for a limited period of time, meaning the publisher will have to take advantage of the offer before it expires.

Baraka, who has been a series staple since "Mortal Kombat II," is another highly possibly candidate. The character already has a complete moveset built into the game since players can fight against him in the main campaign, meaning NetherRealm Studios would have little work left to do in order to release him as a playable character.

The Xenomorph from the "Alien" franchise is also speculated to be included. Ed Boon has shown numerous times on his Twitter account that he is a big fan of the "Alien" franchise, which has seen its fair share of video game adaptations, leading many to believe that the Xenomorph may be one of the characters in the DLC pack.

Other speculations include Sindel, Bo Rai Cho, and Noob Saibot.

"Mortal Kombat X" - Kombat Pack 2 is expected to release in 2016, although no specific release date has yet been announced.
