Minecraft Update 2016 release date news: Ender 1.0 rolling out to mobile; Windows 10 and Gear VR before end of the year

Despite being out in the market for quite a while now, the sandbox open world video game, "Minecraft," continues to have millions of active players worldwide. One of the main reasons for this is that game developer Mojang still continues to support the game with frequent updates and patches that ultimately keep its players engaged. Now, the company has announced that it will be releasing a brand new major update for their highly popular game, which should be available before the year ends.

The game developer announced that the brand new update will be coming to major versions of their game, including the Windows 10 edition, the game's Pocket edition, and its Gear VR edition. The new update, which the developer is calling the 1.0 Ender Update, will be bringing with it a slew of brand new content that includes new areas, a new boss, and an increased world height.

Mojang revealed that the update will be allowing players to have access to the new "The End" dimension, where they will be able to face the Ender Dragon boss. On top of the new content, the world height for the game will also be increased to 256 blocks, a step up from the previous 128 block limit.

It was also revealed that the update will be coming out free for everyone who already owns the game on all of its platforms. Additionally, it was also revealed that the upcoming Apple TV edition of "Minecraft" will also be getting the update along with the rest of the content that have been released so far. Android players, on the other hand, can now actually try out the beta version of the brand new update to help in trying to weed out the bugs and issues it might have prior to its release.

The new Ender 1.0 was preceded by the Boss update which was released last month. The update included a new explorable Ocean Monuments area and a new boss in the form of the Elder Guardian, Wither.
