Microsoft Windows 10 S news, features: Latest Insider Preview update gets rid of system passwords

Microsoft is trying to change everything that the users know about the Windows OS. One of the known features of the Redmond-based tech firm's operating system is setting up system passwords for security. Per the latest Insider Preview update of the latest Microsoft Windows 10 S version, the company appears to be removing the system passwords for good.

As reported by Engadget, Microsoft is currently testing a build for the Windows 10 S, in which the user will no longer have to type in passwords to access folders, apps and the device itself. The latest update will now let the Authenticator app, which can be installed on the device, to unlock the Windows security. In this test build, the users will not see the sign-in option that asks for a password in the platform's interface.

The latest Insider Preview update for the Microsoft Windows 10 S is named Build 17093, and according to the Inquirer, this password-less platform will make use of a one-use code generated by the Authenticator app. The update will also include FIDO keys, like the ones used by Yubico in allowing a USB device to authenticate certain actions within the device. Aside from app-generated codes, the build has additional biometric features such as facial recognition and fingerprint scanning.

The Microsoft Windows 10 S's latest Insider Preview will also allow more users to watch high-dynamic range (HDR) video playbacks. The HDR feature will be enabled in more Windows computers. To note, some modern computers should be calibrated in the factory first to permit HDR video playbacks.

The new features in the latest Windows 10 S test build, including a password-less experience, might be introduced in the full Windows 10 versions someday. Although, this will still depend on the initial reaction of the testers.
