After the long wait, Piranha Games finally announced the coming of "Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries" at the recent Mechcon 2017 in Vancouver over the weekend. It was in 2002 when the last installment of the video game franchise "Mechwarrior 4" was released, although "Mechwarrior Online" was unveiled in 2013.

The event centered on the video game franchise and its Battletech universe, thus it was a great opportunity for the company to reveal its surprise. After 17 years, game enthusiasts will once again encounter a new BattleMech. In fact, the occasion's attendees had the opportunity to play the early version of the "never-before-seen" build of the game.

According to Piranha, "MechWarrior Online" fans have been looking forward to the coming of a new campaign experience. With that, "Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries" is born, and the company eyes the new title to fill that void.

In the game's trailer, Piranha gives a glimpse of the new title's gameplay, showing the colossal mechs facing a number of enemies in different sizes. The player will be controlling a 100-ton Mech, and it is now faster than its predecessor. Also, its groundwork is now more improved.

In "Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries" campaign, the gamer will be taking commands from a mercenary crew. They, too, will be picking random missions on different planets. However, they also have to survive their main expedition that could help improve their team.

The fifth installment of the video game franchise will also come out with full mod support, Steam Workshop, and up to four-player co-op. Hence, gamers can fight along their pals. The Steam Workshop can also help its players have the most dangerous mech. And to make their gaming experience more worthwhile, it has virtual reality (VR) support.

As the hype now builds, Piranha Games announced that "Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries" is set to be released in December 2018. For more details, click here.
