In the next episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team meet an unexpected person who may have the answers to stop Earth's destruction.

The trailer and promotional photos for the upcoming installment, which is titled "The Last Day," were released just recently, and they show Coulson and Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) talking about Robin (Willow Hale), an inhuman whom they knew in the past.

When Robin was still young, the agents saved her from Hydra who had plans of using her clairvoyant abilities to kill innocent people. In this future, Robin is now old and apparently the key to saving humanity.

"She's the connection between the points in time," Coulson says to May. Aside from avoiding Earth's destruction, she may also be able to send the agents back to their own timeline.

Later, Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) stumbles upon a strange device and tells the agents, "This could be our way home."

It seems that Willow may have shown them the contraption since she is the connection between the past and this future timeline. However, Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) thinks that they cannot change the past and have to accept Earth's fate in this future in outer space. However, he thinks that they may still be able to travel back to their own point in time.

In the last episode, Coulson and the team were finally reunited after being separated for a while. Fitz was able to save Simmons and Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake (Chloe Bennet) from the Kree leader Kasius (Dominic Rains). They went back to the quarters and were excited to see Coulson, Alphonso Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), and Yo-Yo Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley).

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" season 5 episode 8 will hit the airwaves on Friday, Jan 19, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
