Those who received a copy of the PC version of the highly anticipated action-adventure video game "Mafia 3" on the day when it was released were likely a bit disappointed when they found out that the title had been capped at 30 FPS. Fans of the franchise have been waiting for the sequel for more than six years now, and finding out that the game would not really be giving the performance that was promised was somewhat disappointing to gamers.

Fortunately, the game's developer Hangar 13 and its publisher 2K Games immediately announced that they were going to release a patch that would add some new frame rate options for the game. The update itself was announced to include 30, 60, and an unlimited FPS option to the game under the video menu.

The companies also mentioned that the patch itself will also contain some "other improvements" to the PC version of the title. The companies did not really specify what these improvements were, but it can be assumed that they would likely be last minute bug fixes and enhancements.

"Mafia 3" is the third main installment in the "Mafia" series of video games and is a sequel to 2010's "Mafia 2." The game is set in 1968 and will take place in a fictional version of New Orleans called New Bordeaux. Players will be taking the role of a Vietnam War veteran named Lincoln Clay, who is hellbent on taking down the Italian mob by forming one of his own.

After the game was launched last week, 2K released a message on Twitter to celebrate the game's release.

"It's been more than six years since you visited Empire Bay in Mafia II. Now, thanks to the tireless work of the whole team at Hangar 13 and 2K, Mafia III is finally here! We've pushed Mafia's trademark cinematic storytelling in a whole new direction with an open-world game. And we think you'll experience that from the second you start playing," 2K's official Twitter post read.

"Mafia 3" was released last week on Friday, Oct. 7, and is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X.
