MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs rumors: Laptop to ditch headphone jack in purported October launch?

The iPhone 7 might not be the only Apple device bidding the headphone jack goodbye. If the reports are to be believed, the MacBook Pro 2016 will follow suit as Apple continues its all-wireless brigade.

This time, the Cupertino-based company is first seeking the opinion of users about the potential change. Apple is gauging using a survey the usage and significance of the headphone jack to users.

The question, as per a user who took part in the poll, read "Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina display?" The answer to this will impact how Apple will design the MacBook Pro 2016.

Users were of different opinion with regards to the removal of the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, and it is unknown if this will be the same for the new MacBook Pro.

Going wireless means using headphones that needed to be charged up, an idea that did not appeal to some users. This also took away the ability to listen to music while charging.

Tech Radar also points out that, for audiophiles, the quality of the audio is reduced, arguing that wired headphones still produce better sound.

The publication also says that the change, while inevitable, was implemented way too early, seeing that the wireless and Bluetooth headphones in the market today still need work despite their growing popularity.

Media outlets know that Apple, like any other tech company, is priming for a wireless future, which is undoubtedly the direction that the evolution of technology is headed to.

That being said, the software titan is expected to standardize being headphone jack-free and synchronize its products, including the MacBook Pro 2016, with this design.

However, as far as the taking away of the headphone jack from the MacBook Pro is concerned, nothing is set in stone yet. The only thing certain for now is that Apple is looking into the possibility.

Other features expected in the MacBook Pro 2016 include an OLED bar, which will replace the physical function keys of the keyboard. This digital strip will also display controls and functions specific to an app being used on the laptop.

Touch ID is also rumored to be introduced in the MacBook Pro 2016 in addition to a trackpad that will be made compatible to the Apple Pencil.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to be launched next month.
