MacBook Pro 2016 release date news, specs rumors: new MacBook spotted in MacOS Sierra update

Ahead of its supposed announcement today — Oct. 27 — images of the brand new 2016 MacBook Pro has apparently been leaked through Apple's latest operating system update.

The company had recently released a new version of MacOS Sierra — version 10.12.1 — and enterprising users were quick to spot several images that came along with the update which gives fans their first look at the highly anticipated new laptop.

The images were apparently part of a tutorial slideshow about using Apple Pay on new devices. Strangely enough, the tutorial shows how to use the system for users of the yet to be announced MacBook Pro. Users who want to see the tutorial images for themselves can navigate to "/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PassKitUI.framework/Versions/A/Resources/" in the Terminal application.

The leaked images confirmed the previous rumors of an OLED touchscreen panel integrated into the device. The panel, which could be called the "Magic Toolbar," completely replaces the function keys on top of the device's keyboard.

The images also confirm that the panel will, in fact, be contextual and will be able to adapt its keys and functions depending on the app or program that is being used. The OLED panel also features a Touch ID system that is placed beside it on the right side of the device.

Aside from confirming the existence of the OLED touchscreen on the new laptop, the images don't really give out much in terms of the device's overall look and features.

What can be gathered upon closer scrutiny of the image is that it will be coming with a brand new hinge design and what looks to be flatter keys, similar to that on the Retina MacBook. Based on that, it can be assumed that the new 2016 MacBook could be a significantly slimmer device compared to its predecessor.

For now, fans just have to wait for Apple to finally unveil the device to know more about its other features.
