'Longmire' season 5 news: No premiere date set yet; fans fight for more episodes for new season

At long last, "Longmire" season 5 is no longer a petition but a tangible achievement. Fans have been fighting for the renewal of the series ever since the season 4 release back in September and for Netflix, it seems that Sheriff Walt Longmire hasn't lost his panache even after four seasons.

"We've never been one to back down from a fight," the official Facebook account of the series says in a post where it announced its return. Needless to say, diehard fans of the series expressed happiness and gratefulness towards Netflix.

But now that Netflix has finally granted what fans always wanted, Yibada reports that they now have another wish, which is for the streaming giant to bump up the number episodes from 10 to at least 20 so as to satiate their mounting desire for a "Longmire" fix.

For now though, there's not much info about "Longmire" season 5. A release date has not been locked in for the re-emergence of everyone's favorite sheriff, not to mention a change in number of episodes. It being said, however, that sometime next year, the new season will be out.

Season 4 of the show was dropped by Netflix last Sept. 10. It wouldn't be impossible if Netflix release new episodes the same month next year. Viewers could only hope it won't take long as they are excited to watch new episodes of the series to learn what happens next.

When the credits rolled for the previous season, the sheriff was confronted at the comfort of his home by an individual whose identity is yet to be revealed. Henry was also taken away by police officer Mathis to what is presumed a perilous fate.

There are no specific details on what could happen next but the big cliffhanger left last season should finally be answered in "Longmire" season 5.
