Despite the overwhelming requests from fans, there are still no official announcement regarding the development of the third major installment in the "Left 4 Dead" franchise, "Left 4 Dead 3." Fortunately, the game's developers — Turtle Rock Studios — has now provided fans with an unfinished campaign for the original 2008 video game, which they can now download and play for free.

For some players, the release of the unfinished campaign may be of little consequence, but it will at least be giving fans something to chew on while they wait for any updates regarding the highly-awaited sequel to the "Left 4 Dead" franchise.

Turtle Rock's co-founder Chris Ashton recently revealed the unfinished "Left 4 Dead" campaign called "Dam It" in the company's own forums page. Ashton then outlined a few details about the campaign itself, as well as providing a third-party link for interested players to download and install the campaign.

The campaign was apparently left unfinished after the original game was released, and it was actually meant to "stitch together" the events of the game's "Dead Air" campaign and the "Blood Harvest" campaign.

Seeing as that the campaign was never completely finished, Ashton warned that there are still some known issues within the stage. Some of the issues include a bridge that cannot be destroyed with explosives, a respawn issue in the farm house, panic event triggers in the hangars, missing wandering fires in the burned forest, and zombie movements in the orchard.

Those who are interested in downloading and playing the unfinished campaign can visit this site. There are two ways of installing the campaign, which is either through launching an installer or by manually placing the VPK file inside the game's "addons" folder.

"Left 4 Dead" was originally released back in 2008 and utilized Valve's proprietary Source engine. The game was made available on the Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, and OS X.
