'Justice League Dark' release date news 2016: Blu-ray box art and extra content officially announced

The upcoming release of the 27th film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series, "Justice League Dark," has a lot of superhero fans excited as the new movie promises to be yet another interesting take on the different characters of the larger DC universe. Now, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have released new details regarding the movie's Blu-ray and DVD release dates as well as the first look at the movie's box art and additional sneak peek bonuses.

The upcoming movie will be showcasing the DC superheroes as they have never been seen before as Batman, along with John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, Swamp Thing, and Jason Blood form a brand new league to combat a yet to be revealed new supernatural force that is threatening everyone on Earth. The main characters in the new league will be voiced by Jason O'Mara, Matt Ryan, Camilla Luddington, Nicholas Turturro, Roger R. Cross, and Ray Chase, respectively.

The new movie will reportedly be available as a digital release starting on Jan. 24, 2017. Those who are interested in getting a physical copy of the movie can opt to get the DVD and Blu-ray versions which will become available on Feb. 7, 2017.

The Deluxe Blu-ray gift set will include a specially made Constantine figurine as well as bonus content that will give fans their first look at DC's upcoming movies including "Teen Titans: The Judas Contract," "Justice League: Gods and Monsters," and "Justice League: Doom." The gift will be sold at a suggested retail price of $39.99. A standard Blu-ray combo pack will also be available for $24.98, while the DVD version will retail for $19.98.

"Justice League Dark" will be the first "Justice League" film and the second DC Universe animated movie to sport an R-rating. Thus, fans should expect a number of R-rated scenes which may include extreme violence and gore.
