iPhone X, iOS 11 tips and tricks guide: How to access App Switcher, Control Center faster

With the new iPhone X having been released earlier this month, its users have had ample time to explore the features iOS 11 has to offer on Apple's new flagship device. The new bar-based user interface does away with the home button and is generally new for new and old iPhone users alike. So, here is a guide to a few tips and tricks for using the iOS 11 on the iPhone X.

Firstly, the iPhone X interface guide from Apple instructs its user to access the App Switcher by swiping upwards from the middle of the home bar and pausing for a moment before the open apps are displayed. However, there is actually a faster method to access the App Switcher. Swiping upwards at a 45-degree angle towards the right of the screen from the home bar should allow the device to show the open apps immediately. Although it is just a small adjustment to how Apple officially does it, but it should be a faster way of doing it.

Another trick would allow iPhone X users to exit apps speedier. Traditionally, it is done with two fingers with one used to tap-and-hold, while the other to tap the app card's exit button. However, quitting apps can actually be possible using only one hand by tap-holding and swiping up the app card as soon as the minus button appears.

In addition to quickly opening and closing apps, there is also a much faster way of the Control Center on the iPhone X. Instead of swiping down from the top-right ear, you can enable reachability in iOS 11.1 by going to Settings -> General -> Accessibility, and turn on Reachability. From then on, users can simply swipe down from the gestural home and be able to swipe from the top-right using the thumb to bring down the Control Center. Apple had previously considered locating the Control Center at the right hand side of the App Switcher.
