The rumors are rife that Apple is now working on the next iteration of its budget iPhone SE device. The standard edition smartphone is expected to arrive sometime this year, and based on the current leaks, the SE 2 will borrow some high-end features from the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, particularly the wirless charging capability.
Tech enthusiasts expect that the iPhone SE 2 will include some contents from the most recent iPhone devices. For one, the handset is believed to boast wireless charging feature, thanks to its rear panel's all-glass material. This information came from a known tech tipster Sachin Bhatt from tekz24.com. Bhatt claims that his insider source is very reliable, suggesting that the iPhone SE follow-up will introduce a major design upgrade over its predecessor. When it comes to the back panel, making it composed entirely of glass is not just for aesthetic reasons, as Apple intends to give the smartphone a wireless charging capability.
To note, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X all exhibits an all-glass back, which allow these devices to be charged just by lying on a special charging pad. As per 9to5Mac, the decision to create the iPhone SE 2 with glass back panel is a much welcomed development, as it will give the phone a modern look compared to the previous model sporting a mix of metal and glass materials.
Meanwhile, WCCFTech reported that the iPhone SE 2 will follow the footsteps of 2016's iPhone 7, given that the upcoming budget smartphone will be powered by A10 Fusion processor. This mobile chipset from Apple is known for its reliable performance, as it includes two performance cores and two efficient cores. Although, the A10 Fusion is no match to the more recent A11 Bionic chip, as the A10 Fusion can only use two cores at once.
It is rumored that the iPhone SE 2 will be unveiled in a special keynote event, sometime in June or July this year. Apple is likely to maintain the iPhone SE's reputation as an affordable handset, although the SE 2 is expected to be more expensive than the original at $450.
