Infiniti announced that it will be bringing a new sedan concept to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. Nissan's luxury vehicle brand also released a teaser to preview the upcoming concept car.
According to the automaker, the sedan concept will represent the first expression of the automaker's new design language. This particular design direction will introduce a new generation of Infiniti vehicles, including the marquee's next flagship sedan.
Infiniti's new concept vehicle is said to have a long cabin, balanced proportions, and a muscular stance. There's also a strong possibility that it will be offered with a hybrid powertrain, along with other fuel-efficient engines.
"The new Infiniti concept car will take the traditional sedan architecture to its next stage of evolution. A shift toward smarter, more compact and less intrusive powertrains; we are able to create an alternative form with flowing gestures, more engaging in character and more enriching in experience," said Karim Habib, executive design director at Infiniti.
Infiniti did not release specific details about the sedan concept but the recently released teaser photo does preview some of the upcoming vehicle's design aspects, specifically on the front fascia.
The concept car featured in the promotional image comes with a snow-white exterior paint color. It also has sharp angles and crisp lines on the hood as well as slim headlights in the front. Infiniti's signature trapezoidal grille also seems to have been reinterpreted to be smaller in size and closed-off in appearance. The new grille could be another hint that the upcoming sedan concept will have an electrified drivetrain.
The automaker also noted that the concept car will be equipped with new technologies that are befitting the automotive industry's current push towards autonomy.
The sedan concept will be unveiled during Infiniti's press conference at the Detroit motor show on Jan. 15, 2018 at 12:35 p.m. EST.
