The next iteration of Huawei's P series is one of the most anticipated flagship devices of 2018. The Shenzhen-based handset maker is expected to unveil the Huawei P20 smartphone early this year, possibly next month at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Unfortunately, recent reports suggest that the company might be holding off the launch of the P10 successor.

According to one of Forbes's insider source, there is a likelihood that the MWC participants this year will not witness the unveiling of the Huawei P20. Instead, the tech firm might hold a standalone event to showcase its latest hardware, with claims that the Huawei P20 launch could take place in Europe. The public is not expected to wait for too long as the launch event could be set just a month after the MWC 2018, or sometime in late March.

The delay of the Huawei P20 launch does not appear to be caused by the company's internal issues. Instead, Huawei is moving its release to a later date as a marketing strategy, allowing its current Huawei P10 and M10 handsets in the market to continue selling. This sounds like an acceptable reason, as the company's current devices have only started to become popular in the international markets, including the United States. To note, the Huawei Mate 10 has recently been confirmed to receive US carrier support.

Nevertheless, Huawei followers will be disappointed as they need to wait more weeks to learn about the upcoming flagship's killer features. It can be recalled that the ever-reliable tech tipster, Evan Blass, spilled about the Huawei P20's stunning triple-lens camera setup, with each lens possibly supporting 40-megapixel (MP) resolution. Moreover, leaked renders of the smartphone reveal that the P20 will get a similar notch feature of the iPhone X, thus raising the possibility of an all-screen display with further reduced bezels and facial recognition technology on the handset.

Meanwhile, there is still a debate whether the next Huawei P series flagship will be called the P20 or P11, the letter sounding more rational as this number follows the iterative naming starting with the Huawei P8. There is a claim that the upcoming handset will be known as the Huawei P11, and not P20, as there are more leaked documents calling the 2018 device as P11. So far, only the details coming from the US are pertaining to the flagship as the Huawei P20.
