The Chinese handset manufacturer, Huawei, has now taken center stage in the highly competitive smartphone market as it launches the different variants of its latest flagship device, the Huawei Mate 9. After having already launched the standard Huawei Mate 9 and the highly desirable Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design, the company has now launched yet another variant of its latest generation device, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro.

While the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design is arguably the most desirable out of the three variants, its near $1,500 price tag is rather out of reach for most consumers. However, upon further examination, it looks like the Huawei Mate 9 Pro may be a more affordable option as it essentially has all of the specs and features of the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design, but without the Porsche branding.

The brand new Huawei Mate 9 Pro sports the same all-metal unibody design with its 2.5D curved glass up front. The Mate 9 Pro, however, has a slightly lower resolution 5.5-inch 2K Quad HD AMOLED display, compared to the 5.5-inch curved OLED display on the Porsche Design variant.

Internally, both phones are exactly alike. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro sports the company's own Octa-core Kirin 960 processor alongside a new ARM Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The device can also be purchased with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM depending on the model. The Pro also runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Keeping the lights on will be a massive 4,000 mAh battery that supports quick charging technology.

For shutterbugs, the Pro comes with the same Leica dual-camera setup as the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Porsche Design. The setup is comprised of a 20-megapixel f/2.2 monochrome lens and a 12-megapixel f/2.2 RGB sensor placed at the rear of the device. As of the moment, the Mate 9 Pro is only available for sale in China and Huawei has yet to announce when it would be releasing the device in other territories.
