Huawei will be releasing the most awaited Android EMUI 8.0 "Oreo" for their Huawei Mate 9 smartphones. The release comes less than a month later after beta testing ended in early November.

Owners of the Huawei Mate 9 will finally be getting the latest Android Oreo EMUI 8.0 OS for their devices. Unfortunately, the upgrade is only limited to the Chinese versions of the said device, Gizmo China reports.

Also, there will not be any on-the-air (OTA) update for the Chinese Huawei Mate 9 handsets. Owners will have to manually upgrade to EMUI 8.0 by going to the Huawei Mobile Services app.

Currently, the supported models for the update are the Mate 9 MHA-AL00, Mate 9 Full Netcom Version MHA-TL00, and the Mate 9 Pro Full Netcom Version LON-AL00. The Mate 9 Porsche Edition will also get the EMUI 8.0 upgrade.

Users may then start to update their Huawei Mate 9s by simply following the on-screen instructions. The operating system (OS) upgrade will not require users to do a factory reset.

As Android Authority reports, the Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade for the Chinese Huawei Mate 9s will bring tons of new features for the device. This includes update in the phones UI design elements, battery optimization, and picture-in-picture (PIP) feature.

The Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade for the Chinese Huawei Mate 9s also brings stronger integration of Google Assistant. The update promises greater attention to help users get things done faster. Additionally, it will provide useful updates such as Huawei-specific artificial intelligence (AI) improvements, and dynamic wallpapers. The update will also give the phone a desktop UI mode, and as well as snoozing notifications.

Unfortunately, owners of the Huawei Mate 9 global version will still have to wait for their updates. There is currently no specific date on when the Android EMUI 8.0 Oreo will be made available to their devices.
