'GTA 6' rumors: 'GTA 5' sequel expected to be out 2018 with gigantic map and Eva Mendes?

Grand Theft Auto V Rockstar

While "GTA 5" is on a roll, gamers can't help but think about the imminent future of the franchise in the highly anticipated "GTA 6." Rumors about the game hit the web nonstop, placing the game on developer Rockstar's 2018 calendar.

Its predecessor, "GTA 5" has only been on the radar for two years. It was first released in the last-gen consoles in 2013. The Xbox One and PS4 version did not come out until last year but PC gamers had to wait for it the longest, with the open world action-adventure game only launching last April.

"GTA" publisher Take-Two Interactive has already stated that flagship titles like this takes years to perfect. The company's CEO Strauss Zelnick told Gamespot that they make sure to release products with "the highest quality in the market" and that takes time.

He further explained that "we are better served to create anticipation and demand," when asked why Take-Two Interactive does not annualize titles like "GTA 5." Apart from that, there's also word that Rockstar is working on something else entirely.

An individual who goes by the name Danny Ross claims that he once worked for Rockstar. According to N4BB, the game studio has its focus on the sequel to the hit western action-adventure "Red Dead Redemption," which fans easily fell in love with when it first released in 2010.

At the moment, Rockstar is believed to be at least choosing fitting concepts for "GTA 6." One persistent rumor is that the new iteration of the title will feature a female protagonist. Eva Mendes will allegedly lend her voice or her likeness to the character. Mendes's partner Ryan Gosling is also rumored to be involved.

It is also expected that "GTA 6" will boast a richer, much larger map. While "GTA 5" already has a sprawling map, fans believe that Rockstar can still push the envelope by integrating various cities as the setting. This map is estimated to be as big as the maps in all of the "GTA" games combined.

"GTA 6" is expected to be released in 2018.
