'GTA 6' release date, new characters and location speculations

'GTA 5' was released early this year for PS3 and Xbox 360, but Rockstar Games is still working on an adaptation for the PS4 and Xbox One. The release for these titles is fall of this year. But despite the recent launching of "GTA 5," many are already wondering and speculating about "GTA 6."

"Grand Theft Auto 6" is speculated to be launched in 2017. This is just a rumor, but it will most likely happen. Rockstar Games hasn't really talked about the sequel game in detail, but has dropped a few hints here and there during interviews.

Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies told Develop in October that "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what 'GTA VI' will be, but we've got some ideas." With the immeasurable amount of ideas, three years should be good enough to get everything planned out and made.

He also said, "GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain't no rest between finishing 'V' and then Online. Plus we have some other things -- stuff, DLC, I don't know how to describe it exactly -- that we'd like to do, and we'll pick the right ones," making it clear that "GTA 6" is not in the talks right as of that moment.

During the release of "GTA V" in January, Rockstar North co-founder Dan Houser said his piece about the future of the game, which could be foretelling of "GTA 6."

"At the moment it feels like [Grand Theft Auto's] D.N.A. is contemporary-ish, America-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that's what it has been... But that doesn't necessarily limit it to those, that's just what we've done so far," he said. Does this sound like the developers are open to adding new character races?

As for the location, speculation revolves around Las Vegas, Paris, London and Brazil. But DJ Whoo Kid, whose songs have been featured in "GTA" games, said in an interview with Baller Status that the game is coming back to Liberty City. Hence, New York might just be the location for "GTA 6."
