"Gotham" season 4 midseason return date is already set and it will highlight on Jerome (Cameron Monaghan). Meanwhile, Fox recently cast a new actor to play Scarecrow.

To recall, the winter midseason finale showed Jerome sharing a prison cell with Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) at Arkham. It hints that when the show returns, there will be more stories that focus on Jerome. It appears that Jerome and Penguin will join forces to do some villainous works. The midseason premiere trailer features the chaos that the two will bring to Gotham.

With two working together, there will be more trouble in the city. Aside from that, Joker and Penguin will also be recruiting other villains to join them. How will the Gotham heroes defend the city?

The show's return is now set on March 1 as announced on the official Twitter account of Gotham. The post shows a picture of Jerome in the cell with a caption that says, "Strap in because #Gotham RETURNS on March 1!" This announcement excites fans especially that the storyline of the other half of season 4 is very interesting.

In another news, Digital Spy reveals that Fox has chosen a new actor to play Scarecrow or Jonathan Crane. The role was previously played by Cameron Monaghan, but he can no longer return to the series due to his role in the Netflix crime drama "Ozark."

The casting call for Scarecrow says, "After being dosed with a fear toxin developed by his late father, Jonathan Crane was paralyzed by fear until he learned to turn that fear on others." The character will appear in episodes 17 and 18 of the later season and it will be a recurring guest star.

David W Thompson will now take the role of the supervillain who will dress up as a scarecrow. He will use his fear to terrorize the people of Gotham. He will prefer to be called Scarecrow instead of his true name, Jonathan Crane.

"Gotham" will return Thursday, March 1 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
