GoPro Hero 5 release date in time for holidays? specs rumors

GoPro Hero 4, the most recent iteration of the GoPro cameras GoPro

As previously reported, the GoPro Hero 5 was originally meant to be unveiled this past October but was delayed as the developers are still working on improvements and tweaks to the device. According to a report from Latinos Health, the device won't even be out by this Christmas and still maintains an undetermined 2016 release date.

The tweaks being worked on include an improved waterproof casing. However, the biggest difference is that it will be waterproof all on its own without the need for an exterior casing accessory. According to the report, this will make the GoPro Hero 5 submersible up to a depth of 60 feet into the water.

It is also rumored to feature ultra HD 8K resolution, twice as clear as the 4K HD resolution seen on the current GoPro Hero 4. Rumors suggest that the developers are taking their time tweaking the technology to ensure that recording 8K videos can be done at a full 60 frames per second to guarantee perfect video quality.

One feature that the report claims the GoPro Hero 5 will have is the capability of taking 3D images and videos. The capability to record 3D videos is relatively new in consumer ware despite being commonplace now for movies and it would give the GoPro Hero 5 a big advantage over its competition.

It is also set to weigh around 40 percent less than the GoPro Hero 4 and will also be roughly 50 percent smaller. This is important for sports enthusiasts and it makes the device all the easier to use while surfing, swimming, skydiving and conducting other sport events.

The GoPro Hero 5 is also set to contain improved software to make it perform smoother and faster while also utilizing improved hardware that will make it more durable and long-lasting, including a better battery.

No specific release date for the GoPro Hero 5 has yet been announced, although speculations point to an early 2016 release before the month of June.
