Google Allo release date set for Sept. 21?

Google previously unveiled two brand new apps — Google Duo and Google Allo — during their recently concluded Google I/O event back in May. Both apps were meant to enhance communications between devices through the use of the company's proprietary technologies.

The company also released Duo last month, leaving fans waiting for any official word regarding the launch of their latest standalone instant messaging mobile app, Google Allo.

When the two apps were announced, the public had initially thought that Google was going to be releasing both apps simultaneously. However, the company apparently chose to launch their new video chat mobile app first.

Now, according to the infamous leakster Evan Blass — who is better known by his Twitter username @evleaks — Google Allo is apparently coming out this week. The announcement was made on the leakster's official Twitter account where he specified the launch date: Sept. 21.

The company had previously announced that they were going to be releasing Allo during the summer. This leaves just a few more days until fall finally kicks in, which makes it all the more likely that Blass' announcement is accurate.

The brand new instant messaging app will not be a direct replacement to Google Hangouts, but instead is a standalone app that features the company's Google Assistant, a conversational virtual assistant running a complicated AI program.

Google Allo also supports something the company calls its "Smart Reply" feature. The app essentially learns the user's behavior and then suggests possible replies to messages and images in conversations. Google Allo also allows users to increase the size of their text to represent volume.

Other features include a heavy encryption mode between two users, incognito chats, GIF support, voice messages, stickers, and several other chat features. If the leak turns out to be true, users on both Android and iOS should be able to download the app within the week.
