Action-adventure video game "God of War's" release date was officially announced in the PlayStation Store. However, the date displayed on the site was recently changed to its usual placeholder. Despite this, fans of the game are still excited about its 2018 release.

Users of the gaming forum ResetEra observed that the PlayStation Store for Chilean and North America websites displayed its release date as March 22, 2018. Later on, it was returned to its placeholder date of Dec. 31, 2018. Despite the change, gamers believe that this is still a confirmation that the hack and slash video game will be out next year.

Games Radar notes that the release date of "God of War" could be displayed by mistake. It adds that there could be a meaning to this mistake since the PlayStation Experience will start on Dec. 9 and 10 at Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. It is possible that the official release date of the game will be announced during that event. Other big updates about the upcoming PS4 games will also be revealed on that day.

The outlet also points out that the game was first released on March 22, 2005. Hence, if it will be out on March 22, 2018, this counts exactly 13 years later. However, that date lands on a Thursday, which is an unusual day for releasing games.

GameSpot reports that there are only a few details about the new "God of War" game since it was announced during E3 2016. Gamers are looking forward to seeing a footage or a teaser trailer for its gameplay. In answer to that, game director Cory Barlog said, "I promise we will be showing something really awesome when it is ready."

Barlog also said that the game is influenced by a canceled Star Wars TV show. He added that it will offer a "more diverse emotional palette." He also mentioned about the challenge in creating the characters of the game including Kratos.

"God of War" will not be an open-world game and it will also not feature any multiplayer option. The original voice actor of Kratos, T.C. Carson, will be replaced by actor Christopher Judge.
