Games with Gold news: Free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for January 2018 announced for Xbox Live Gold subscribers

Xbox Live Gold members now have their free games revealed for the month of January. The Xbox Games with Gold program features six games that Gold subscribers can play for free.

First off, there is action-adventure with a touch of gothic horror in "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III." Players take the role of a character and lead them through hours of monster-slaying action. This title is published and developed by Neocore Games and was first released in 2015.

Those in the mood for a good science-fiction romp will be delighted with "Back to the Future The Game: 30th Anniversary Edition." This one is a five-episode graphic adventure heavily based on the movie of the same title.

"Back to the Future The Game: 30th Anniversary Edition." is only free until Jan. 15.

On Jan. 16 to Jan. 31 it will be replaced by "Zombi," a first-person survival game featuring the titular zombies. This horror game was published by Ubisoft and was originally released on November 2012.

Another major title going free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers this month is "Tomb Raider: Underworld." This action adventure game features Lara Croft and her search for Avalon. It is a direct sequel of "Tomb Raider: Legend," but it also resolves some loose ends from the plot of "Tomb Raider: Annivesary."

"Tomb Raider: Underworld" is the eighth installment in the main series of "Tomb Raider" games.

The game is originally made for the Xbox 360. However, it should be noted that the game can be played on the Xbox One because of backwards compatibility.

"Tomb Raider: Underworld" is also only available until Jan. 15. After that date, it will be replaced by "Army of Two," which will be available from Jan. 15 to Jan. 31.

Games With Gold is a feature exclusive to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Every month, the program offers up to $700 worth of free games.
