'Five Nights at Freddy's' release date news update: Creator Scott Cawthon to give update on movie's status 'soon'

The highly popular indie point and click survival horror video game, "Five Nights at Freddy's," has become quite a commercial success with several new installments having already been released. The franchise has also extended its reach to merchandising and books, but it has yet to finally tap the wider movie going audience.

The franchise's creator, Scott Cawthon, has however already revealed that they are in fact going to be making a movie adaptation of the hit game. However, since the announcement last year, there hasn't really been any update regarding its development.

Now, new reports have revealed that the game's creator might soon be making an announcement regarding the development of the highly anticipated movie, which should hopefully appease fans that have been waiting a while for any updates regarding its production. The reports originally stemmed from a query posted by a fan named Carzon64 who asked Cawthon about the progress they are making in creating the film.

"Hey Scott I was wondering what was happening with the 'FNAF' movie. I know that this was announced in April 2015 but we haven't got much news about it. I was really excited to hear the news about it when it came out. Is it still happening Scott?" the fan mentioned in his post on the Steam Community website.

To everyone's surprise, Cawthon immediately responded and mentioned that he will be making a news post about it very soon given that a lot of fans are probably already very curious about what is happening to the movie. His reply technically did not answer the question, but some fans took it as a sign that the movie's production might be going forward swimmingly. For now, fans just have to wait until Cawthon delivers on his word and finally releases an update on the movie's status.
