As the first half of Fear the Walking Dead season 2 concluded, fans could not wait for the continuation of the season to witness what will become of the survivors. The group decided to separate and walk different paths from each other after Celia's compound was burned by Daniel.

Chris and Travis were gone after storming off because of a confrontation in a stranger's house. Madison tricked Celia and locked her in the cellar. Daniel then lit up the compound in flames that caused Nick's distressed. He told them that Celia was right about them and that they destroy everything. This made him go on without coming with them to escape from the walkers.

In an interview of Entertainment Weekly, Dave Erickson, showrunner of Fear the Walking Dead, said, "The big question for the back half of Season 2 is when and how will the family reunite? The interesting thing will be watching them splinter off in multiple directions and seeing how each group can survive and what they do to find their place in the apocalypse."

EW then asked what will be the endgame for the separated groups. He pointed out that a resolution isn't something to be rushed but it has to be "earned over time".

He said, "But you essentially got three storylines — potentially four — where we scatter to the winds, and try to find a way to survive. The interesting thing for the back half of the season is initially we had sanctuary, relatively speaking, for the first half. We had the boat until that was compromised. We had a place where we could get food, we could get water, and then we had the compound, and I think that again was a safe place. And this is the first time we're going to see Travis and Madison, Alicia, and Nick, and Chris in a position where they're going to have to learn to survive in a way that they haven't yet, and that's going to be one of the big challenges for them."

The last half of the season will be aired on Sunday, August 21, 9pm on AMC.
