Mod support for the PlayStation 4 version of Bethesda's open world role playing video games, "Fallout 4" and "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim," went through a lot of negotiations between the company and Sony before finally being implemented. The resulting agreement was not really what fans had expected, but most had to make do with what was being allowed by Sony with their consoles.

As it stands, the mod support for Sony's console is somewhat limited with the company only allocating 1 GB of storage for mods while also prohibiting players from using external assets. The restrictions are a far cry from the unlimited modding options that are available for the Xbox One and PC versions of the games wherein players are only really limited by their imaginations when modifying their characters and the environments around them.

Some fans have been constantly asking Bethesda if there has been any headway in terms of their negotiations with Sony in providing the full mod experience to players. The company then only mentioned that they haven't yet given up on working to provide the full experience to PlayStation 4 gamers.

Bethesda also confirmed that it will be releasing an update to allow gamers to play "Fallout 4" on Sony's latest generation gaming console, the PlayStation 4 Pro. The game itself should see significant enhancements to its overall graphic output, including textures, lighting, and resolutions.

"PS4 Players can expect PS4 Pro support in our next title update for Fallout 4," Bethesda mentioned in a recent statement.

Bethesda has yet to reveal a release date for the "Fallout 4" PlayStation 4 update. Some fans have also been wondering if the new version would be coming with mod support and if Sony will finally allow the full mod experience on the Pro version of the game. In response to queries from fans, Bethesda simply stated that they currently don't know, but that Sony did approve the new version to work like the other platforms.
