Ed Sheeran claims Taylor Swift's new song 'Dress' not about him

"Thinking Out Loud" singer Ed Sheeran has addressed the latest rumors circulating that his close friend and fellow artist Taylor Swift released a song about him. Swift's latest release titled "Dress" has been speculated to be referring to Sheeran because of lyrics that allegedly are referenced to Sheeran's hit "Shape of You." Sheeran, however, debunked the speculations using some of the lyrics just within the song as well.

In an Instagram live interview with August Man, Sheeran said that he does not agree with the rumors because Swift mentioned someone with a buzz cut which he has never had as he has always sported a mane of ginger locks.

Although Swift has not confirmed who the song is about, many believe that "Dress" is actually referenced to her current boyfriend, Joe Alwyn who had a buzz cut for his role in the 2016 war drama film "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk." Swift also mentioned her bleached hair in the song which she sported last year.

Sheeran addressed the issue weeks after he talked about Swift and Alwyn's relationship on Capital London's Breakfast Show via Elle UK. He said that the couple is very much in love with each other. He added that Swift and her British boyfriend often work out and watch movies together.

Sheeran and Swift have been friends since 2013 and have collaborated on songs such as "Everything Has Changed" and "End Game." The two were also spotted together on the fourth of July at a beachside party. Sheeran is currently in a long-term relationship with his childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn.

The Daily Edge speculated that Swift may be trolling her fans by putting lines in "Dress" that could be about Sheeran for fun. Until Swift herself confirms who the lyrics are for, it will remain a mystery.
