The planned announcement of a new entry to the "Devil May Cry" franchise may have been spoiled by an online community dedicated to the franchise. A fan recently posted what he claims to be a leak for the fifth installment of the franchise titled "Devil May Cry 5" including details of its trailer, release date, cast members, and storyline in an online forum.

According to the alleged leak posted on ResetEra forum, "Devil May Cry 5" will be set for release between April 2018 and March 2019, but is likely to be released within the first quarter of 2019. The platforms where the title is to be released are still unclear, though it states that Sony paid for some funds of the game. The leak foresees the official unveiling of the game to take place at a Sony event, but does not disclose if the title will be a PlayStation exclusive or a timed exclusive.

As for the trailer, the alleged leak revealed a video trailer which runs for one minute and 50 seconds depicting an urban city setting along with the cast for "Devil May Cry 5." Among the named returning cast members are Reuben Langdon as Dante, Dan Southworth as Vergil, and Johnny Yong Bosch as Nero.

As for the storyline, it is said to be a sequel to the original franchise following "Devil May Cry 4." The leak also reveals that there could be three playable characters in "Devil May Cry 5" namely Dante, Nero and possibly Vergil. Trish will also supposedly return with a prominent role as well as Mundus with the mention of a "Prince of Darkness" in the leak. It is also theorized that Dante and Nero will finally meet and confirm their relationship as father and son.

As for the level design, it is described as more open, but not quite open world and the title's exploration is comparable to "Bayonetta" with action set pieces without the quick time events. There is also mention of a new and more dynamic camera system.

More details are expected to come along with the trailer once "Devil May Cry 5" is officially announced.
