There is understandably a lot of anticipation for the upcoming online first-person shooter sequel video game, "Destiny 2" seeing as the latest downloadable content (DLC) expansion pack "Destiny: Rise of Iron" has already been released.

The game's developer had previously confirmed that it was, in fact, working on a fully fledged sequel to their critically acclaimed game and that they would be revealing more details about it once they have released the "Rise of Iron" DLC.

During the company's recently held financial briefing, the company had not really revealed much about the upcoming sequel. However, Activision's CEO — Eric Hirshberg — did confirm that the game was "on track" and they are very excited about the "Destiny 2."

The CEO also confirmed that the sequel was indeed going to be coming out sometime next year and that they are going to be making some changes in the way that they will be releasing its post-launch content to keep fans engaged.

"The sequel is designed to excite both our highly engaged current players, but also to broaden the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back old fans as well," said Hirshberg during the briefing.

The CEO hadn't really talked much about the game itself and only revealed that they will be addressing some issues about the game's future post-launch content. The original game only received two DLC packs and very little in terms of events and other promotions to keep players engaged, but this time around it seems like the company is aiming to increase the frequency of updates for "Destiny 2."

"Beyond that, the incredible demand for Destiny content has somewhat outpaced our ability to deliver upon that demand, and going forward along with our partners at Bungie, have put together what we believe is a very smart approach that will allow us to deliver the steady stream of great content to keep our players engaged and keep our universe alive and growing in the wake of that sequel," Hisrhberg continued.

While Bungie has yet to confirm it, there are rumors that are claiming that the upcoming sequel may be made available for PC players, unlike its predecessor. "Destiny 2" is also only available on current generation consoles, which means that legacy support for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will no longer be available.
