'Destiny 2 Curse of Osisis' news: Expansion is now live; new DLC offers legendary features

Bungie's highly-anticipated expansion for first-person shooter "Destiny 2" was recently launched. The release of "Curse of Osiris" came with a slew of updates available for all players, even those who did not purchase the expansion.

The "Curse of Osiris" launch coincided with the v.1.1.0 update for "Destiny 2." In preparation for the massive update and the expansion integration, Bungie scheduled a downtime for Dec. 5 starting from 10 a.m. Eastern Time (ET). The maintenance ended at around 12 p.m. ET, as Bungie announced in a tweet that both update 1.1.0 and the "Curse of Osiris" downloadable content (DLC) are ready to play.

Installation of the DLC will take up 44 GB of hard drive space on a PlayStation 4 (PS4) o Xbox One. However, due to the PS4's method of installation, an amount approximately double this size will be required — about 88 GB. For Windows PC users, "Curse of Osiris" will take around 68 GB of hard drive space to install.

One of the most notable features of the update is the option to play in 4K resolution, as well as support for high dynamic range of color (HDR).

"Curse of Osiris" will also feature new Strikes and raids, all set on the expansion's new locale of Mercury. The DLC also has its own free roam area, Public Event, and the Infinite Forest zone.

However, some of the most-awaited additions are the new gear. There are a lot of new weapons available in the game, including a trace rifle called "Prometheus Lens," a rocket launcher named "Countess SA/2," and a sniper rifle called "Belfry Bounty."

There are also realtively lighter weapons like the submachine gun (SMG) called "Atalanta-D," the handcannon called "Living Memory," and the sidearm named "Swift Solstice."

"Destiny 2" is the sequel to the popular first-person shooter "Destiny." It is actively developed and maintained by Activision and Bungie. The game is online-only multiplayer and has a focus on character leveling and gear collection.
