Looks like a couple of great mysteries surrounding Hideo Kajima's upcoming video game title "Death Stranding" would be unveiled this year, based on latest interview featured in the latest issue of the Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki PlayStation.

Kojima was the highlight of the magazine's "Creative Interviews" section for the December issue, where he mentioned that Sony Interactive Entertainment was impressed on how fast the pace of development is going for the upcoming AAA title.

"SIE told me they "never seen people working on a fast pace like this," he said. "So Death Stranding dev is doing well. I plan to announce something in 2018 that'll surprise everyone even more," he added.

Many were thinking that the announcement pertains to the game's official schedule of release, but it also could mean a number of things. Of course, the game's main plot and gameplay is still unclear, despite the three teaser trailers already released by Kojima Productions. The announcement could also be about that, but as of yet, nobody's sure.

Kojima's big announcement still hasn't locked on a certain date, but reports tout that the revelation will happen during the E3 2018, the next major gaming event. Some also says that Kojima would announce his next project after "Death Stranding," but since his first statement refers to the fast-paced development of the game, it's easy to put two and two together.

"Death Stranding's" latest trailer, which was recently revealed during the Game Awards last December, didn't really give much about gameplay, so others might think that gameplay footage would be the next item to check off. Kojima hasn't hinted on anything of the sort however, so fingers crossed.

Still, typical AAA titles take as much as three to five years to finish, and since "Death Stranding" is Kojima's first project after leaving Konami, it undoubtedly won't see a release date until everything's perfect and seamless.

Tons of theories have already been made about the game, but until the upcoming announcement is made, fans have no choice but to contemplate upon the number of mysteries surrounding the game.
