The much awaited film adaptation of Kevin Kwan's most popular series of books finally has a release date. Warner Bros. recently announced that the "Crazy Rich Asians" movie is set for an August 2018 premiere.

Ever since the announcement that the book was getting made into a movie, fans have been as hyped as ever. One particular reason for the excitement is that it is another movie that will feature an all-Asian cast with talents scouted around the continent. Warner Bros. announced that the film, directed by Jon M. Chu, whose credits include "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and "Now You See Me 2," will be premiering next year.

It will be premiering alongside films such as "Captive State" which stars John Goodman and Vera Farmiga; "The Happytime Murders" which stars Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, and Elizabeth Banks; as well as "Three Seconds" starring Clive Owen, Joel Kinnaman, and Rosamund Pike.

The "Crazy Rich Asians" movie stars an ensemble cast that includes Constance Wu, Henry Goldin, Gemma Chan, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Chris Pang, Remi Hii, Sonoya Mizuno, Jing Lusi, Ronny Chieng, Ken Jeong, Harry Shum, Jr., Jimmy O. Yang, Nico Santos, Pierre Png, Fiona Xie, Tan Kheng Hua, and Kina Grannis.

The film follows Chinese-American New Yorker Rachel Chu (Wu), who accompanies her boyfriend Nick Young (Golding) to his best friend Colin Khoo's (Pang) wedding in Singapore. While Rachel is excited to visit Asia for the first time, she is nervous about meeting Nick's family as well. However, she will soon find out that Nick turns out to be one of the country's wealthiest families as well as one of its most eligible bachelors. Being Nick's girlfriend will put a target on Rachel's back, as she deals with jealous socialites, nosy relatives, and social climbers as well as Nick's disapproving mother Eleanor Young (Yeoh).

Tim Coddington, Robert Friedland, and Kwan serve as the film's executive producers. John Penotti of Ivanhoe, and Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force are the producers.

"Crazy Rich Asians" will premiere on Aug. 17, 2018.
