In the next episode of "'Brooklyn Nine-Nine," Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) finds out that he is in the running to become the Chief Commissioner of the New York Police Department (NYPD).

The synopsis for the upcoming installment titled "99" was just released recently. When the cops of the entire 99th precinct attend a funeral in Los Angeles, Holt hears the good news that he is one of the people being considered to head the NYPD. However, he has to head back to New York as soon as possible to attend the interview. There is gridlock at the airport and Holt is getting concerned that he might not be able to make it. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) decides to help him out by devising a variety of ways to get the captain back to New York. He knows that Holt will be indebted to him if he performs this miracle for the captain.

Meanwhile, Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) panics that he might lose his first-class flight back to Manhattan. There are a lot of passengers who want to get back to the city which might result to getting Jeffords bumped off his flight. Jeffords was a last-minute passenger and stands to lose his slot if another person decides to pursue that reserved seating. It remains to be seen if Peralta will be able to get Holt back and if Jeffords will manage to stay on his flight.

In the last episode, Peralta, Jeffords, and Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) investigated the theft of a couple of manuscripts at a fantasy convention. The cops discovered that the authors themselves were the ones who staged their own thefts in order to raise buzz about their future novels.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 episode 9 will air on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 10:30 p.m. EST on Fox.
