"Battlefield 1" is planning to end its content spree on a high note, as the final downloadable content (DLC) for the game titled "Apocalypse" will be about the end of the world and will release next month.

"Apocalypse" will be coming with a generous serving of five new maps and a new game mode named Air Assault, which will focus on aerial combat. Two of these said maps will also cater to dogfights between the bi-planes of World War I and will most likely have no room or land for infantry to shoot each other.

The five new maps include three standard maps for infantry and vehicular combat named Passchendaele, Caporetto, and the River Somme, while the two maps for aerial combat are named London Calling and Razor's Edge. All five maps should also be able to support the maximum player count for "Battlefield 1," which is 64, though there may be smaller ones which can only support up to 32.

Apart from the new game mode and maps, "Apocalypse" will also be introducing a new specialisation type called "afflictions." This will essentially make the game significantly harder than usual since it will hamper and hobble players in different ways based on the sustained injury during combat or how they are killed. Some of the affliction modifiers include "Mortality," where players will lose 200 points every time they respawn or "Paranoia," which will require players to have a gas mask on constantly.

These new specialisations will have a drastic effect on the battlefield, and they can affect every player differently, where previous playstyles might even get invalidated. As such, players will have to adjust accordingly and come up with new tactics.

There will also be new equipment in the form of two new bombers for the Caporetto map, as well as six new guns which include a new anti-air Rocket Gun for the Assault class.

The DLC is expected to arrive sometime during February for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows and only for Premium pass owners, regular players will have to stay tuned for release dates.
