The Apple TV has recently received an important update before the year wraps up, adding more entertainment media for the viewers. The latest update finally brings the Amazon Prime Video application, something that the Cupertino-based tech firm had promised a few months ago.

As reported by The Verge, Apple TV users can now access the Amazon Prime Video. This feature was added six months after Apple CEO Tim Cook said at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that the popular streaming app would arrive in Apple TV soon. With only a few days remaining in 2017, users can now witness the award-winning original Prime series and movies.

"Amazon Prime Video is one of the most eagerly anticipated apps to come to Apple TV, so we're excited to bring all of that great content to customers," Apple senior vice president for internet software and services, Eddy Cue, said. The Prime Video app is the latest entry in Apple TV's streaming services, which already include Hulu and Netflix. This Apple TV update with Prime Video is now available in over 100 countries, including the United States.

Previously, the Amazon Prime Video app was only accessible on the Apple TV with the use of a wireless AirPlay connection from a different Apple device source. With the streaming app available directly in Apple TV, users can now swipe through a variety of popular Prime titles with ease.

Aside from adding the Amazon Prime Video app, the latest Apple TV update also upgrades the iOS app version to 5.0, which includes the much-awaited iPhone X support, as well as universal search. The latest OS version update is available for download on 3rd and 4th-generation Apple TV sets.

Lastly, the end-of-year Apple TV update includes support for live sports viewing. Fans can now check the status of their favourite sports team in real time by using the Apple TV app, which has the ESPN and the NBA sports apps as its partners. Also, users with Prime membership can now tune in to Thursday Night Football program via Apple TV app.
