After Winter Storm Grayson, Winter Storm Hunter is expected to hit the Midwest part of the U.S. this week

Those who live in the Midwest part of the U.S. must get ready for some freezing days to come as Winter Storm Hunter continues to pound its way to the Dakotas, Nebraska, parts of Iowa, Minnesota, and other cities in the Northeast.

Although meteorologists have predicted the possible course of the storm this week, they warned that the storm is still evolving, therefore they still cannot say for definite the precise places where the storm will mostly hit, urging citizens to stay alert and prepare themselves for severe snow and freezing rain until this weekend.

Because of this, the National Weather Service has already issued winter weather advisories and warnings in various places in the northern and central Plains, High Plains, the upper Mississippi Valley, and the Rockies.

Cities part of the aforementioned locations should expect heavy snow until the weekend, and authorities are already warning commuters and travelers to be extra careful in the coming days. Snow could reach the height of six to twelve inches according to various forecasts, and parts of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee could see ice accumulation up to 10th of an inch to a quarter-inch.

According to AccuWeather's Senior Meteorologist Mike Doll, "At this point, it looks like just enough cold air will invade the storm to create a major problem for travel beginning from central northeastern Arkansas and western Tennessee to northern Maine and southern Quebec and northwestern New Brunswick."

"It appears the storm is more likely to track west of the Appalachians, rather than right over the Appalachians," he added.

Overnight forecast for this Friday night include freezing rain in eastern New York, Pennsylvania, and northern New England, and south-eastern Ontario, western Pennsylvania and western New York should expect heavy snow.

By Saturday, upstate New York state and far northern New England should experience lingering snow, but the low-pressure system is expected to leave the U.S. and enter the Canadian borders at this time. Still, some northern spots in the country will likely experience a freezing Saturday afternoon.
