Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop price, specs: Sports AMD latest chip, boasts better performance

Acer recently revealed its refreshed Nitro 5 gaming laptop during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. The said laptop was announced on Jan. 7, which will feature AMD's latest chips to improve performance and battery efficiency.

The newest model comes with the AMD Radeon RX560 graphics and AMD Ryzen mobile processors. This updated specs will result in improved lighting and better texture details, faster rendering, and better gaming performance.

It also has a faster RAM and it includes Nitro Sense GPU/CPU monitoring software for real-time GPU and CPU metrics. Its storage is up to 512 GB SSD and up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM. For its connectivity, it promises a "hyper-fast USB-C," but it is not yet known if it's a USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2. It will also get an HDMI 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet.

As for its design, it has a 15.6-inch IPS with 1920x1080 resolution. The laptop is dressed up with a laser texturing on the lid. It has a matte-red hinge and its keyboard is backlit. PC World adds that the laptop comes with two utilities. The first one is the NitroSense utility allows users to monitor CPU and GPU performance. The second utility is the CoolBoost which gives the player the ability to adjust cooling fan speeds.

Acer Nitro 5's audio builds in Dolby Audio Premium stereo speaker hardware. It is complemented by Acer TrueHarmony, which helps gamers pick up subtle sounds in games. The audio makes gaming more satisfying.

The laptop will be available in May with prices starting at $799. Although its availability in the UK and AU is not yet announced, it might come with a tag price of £590 and AU$1,020.

In the same event, Acer announced that the Switch 7 Black Edition will be priced at about $1,699. Meanwhile, the Predator Orion 9000 Series, which will be available in February, will come with a tag price of $1,999. Both laptops were originally announced at IFA 2017, but their availability in the US was announced at the recent CES 2018.
