Apple has recently released some of their most anticipated flagship devices this year, which includes the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch 2. Some of the more business-oriented fans, however, are now waiting for the company to roll out the latest version of their powerful all-in-one desktop computer, the 2016 iMac.

According to some reports, the upcoming 2016 iMac may contain some significant upgrades that should push its performance to an entirely new level. There might not be that much of a change in terms of its outward appearance, but the new iMac is expected to sport some of the latest and most advanced technology that is currently available.

While there has been some talk of the 2016 iMac possibly coming out with Intel's latest Kaby Lake-based CPU, this scenario is now not likely to happen. The iMac is rumored to be coming out next month, which means that Apple probably does not have enough time to incorporate the new chips into the new iMac seeing as Intel has not even publicly released the Kaby Lake CPU yet.

If this is indeed the case, then the upcoming iMac may be sporting the current generation Intel Skylake chips instead. The current generation CPU is still quite the performer, and with a combination of other technologies it should still be able to give consumers the performance they expect from the new device.

Previous reports also revealed that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) won the contract to supply the GPUs for the latest iMac. This means that the 2016 iMac could be sporting either Polaris 10 or Polaris 11-based GPUs, and possibly one of the Radeon RX models that AMD had already released. AMD's current GPUs do offer an increased performance as compared to its predecessors and at the same time consume significantly less power.

Overall, the new 2016 iMac is expected to be quite a technological marvel that will introduce some new features to consumers. These features would likely include possible VR and AR component, as well as other new possible features that have never been seen before on an iMac computer.
