Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 vs Samsung Note 7 specs comparison: Which phablet to buy?

Samsung recently released its phablet flagship in the form of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and China-based tech company Xiaomi is expected to give it a run for its money with the Redmi Note 4.

Although Samsung is currently in hot water following the exploding battery issues that led to a recall, the company is working on fixing it, which, when complete, could be one of the most formidable releases of the year.

Looking past the issue, Samsung's vision for the new-generation Note is definitely ambitious. Starting off the design, however, it will be a matter of preference.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has a glass back and metal with its curved display as its ultimate attraction. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 goes the traditional route and sticks with a flat display and a full metal chassis.

Under the hood, it is a pretty close match up. The Galaxy phablet houses an Exynos 8890 processor while the Xiaomi device is powered by the MediaTek Helio X20.

But the amount of RAM sets them apart as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with 3GB of RAM while the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has 4GB. Storage wise, they will both have 64GB of expandable space although Xiaomi has a 16GB variant with 2GB RAM.

With regards to the display, Samsung's offering takes the score. It comes with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution and an impressive pixel density of 518ppi.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will be a better option for those who like it a bit smaller as it only features a 5.5-inch display. Its Full HD resolution and 401ppi is certainly not of the same level as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, but it should do the job.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor. Both phones have it, but Samsung's heavyweight took it up a notch with an iris scanner, making it the clear winner in this department.

As for the battery department, the Xiaomi device is said to come with an enormous 4000mAh battery while the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes with a much smaller 3500mAh battery.

When it comes to the pricing, those who want to enjoy an amazing phablet experience without breaking the bank can go for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is much pricier at around $850 while its rival is priced as low as $180.

Now will not be a good idea to buy the new Samsung-branded Note after thousands of units were recalled following complaints of exploding batteries.

Fans can count on Samsung fixing this issue so if they want the phablet, they might have to wait a bit.
