Action role-playing video game "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" was finally released worldwide on Dec. 1 exclusively on Nintendo Switch consoles. So, to celebrate, Nintendo released a new trailer featuring both gameplay and story plot.

The trailer is longer than usual — almost three minutes long. It mostly shows Rex and Pyra in all kinds of adventures on their way to Elysium, with more than a fair share of scenes showing how the game is played on the Switch. Other supporting characters are present in the trailer as well.

For those who don't know, "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" it's an action role-playing game lead by main protagonist Rex and the Blade Pyra. "As the giant beasts march toward death, the last hope is a scavenger named Rex—and Pyra, a living weapon known as a Blade," reads the game's official description.

"Can you find the fabled paradise she calls home? Command a group of Blades and lead them to countless strategic victories before the world ends," it adds.

The game' main story is set in Alrest, a vast ocean of clouds where humans and other life forms live on top of the colossal beast called Titans. It's been said that when a Titan dies, civilization soon follows, so it's up to Rex and Pyra to discover where the fabled world of Elysium is — a rumored paradise where civilization can survive without the Titans.

Since the game's Dec. 1 worldwide release, "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" has already topped United Kingdom's sales charts at number 19. This already predicts that the game has a strong launch, and reports tout that in its first week, the title's sales are up by a third compared to "Xenoblade Chronicles X" when it was released on the Wii two years ago.

The initial reviews of the game are already solid, and several critics are mostly giving it a score no less than six over ten. However, the game still has some minor flaws, but overall, players seem to be enjoying the game overall.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" is developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. It is currently available for download exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
