People have a lot of things to look forward to this New Year. For the Xbox Live Gold subscribers, one of these things to be excited about in January 2018 is the latest lineup of free games in the Xbox Games With Gold catalog. Microsoft is starting the year right with the action-packed titles, led by "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III" for Xbox One and "Tomb Raider: Underworld" for Xbox 360.

Microsoft has officially confirmed the lineup of free video games hitting the Xbox Games With Gold catalog, which will be available for the entire month of January. As expected, there are four game titles composed, with two titles each for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. Headlining the list is the action role-playing game (ARPG) "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III," featuring the iconic titular character in a mission to defeat the creatures from hell. The Xbox One title can be played for free all throughout January.

The addition of "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III" in the Games With Gold lineup for January 2018 also marks its arrival in the Xbox One console. The game will also receive a few enhancements to suit the latest Xbox One X platform. Meanwhile, the second Xbox One title joining this month's lineup is "Zombi," an updated version of the Wii U title "ZombiU." The game will be available for the second half of January.

Going to the Xbox 360 lineup, "Tomb Raider: Underworld" will be available for the first half of the month. According to Forbes, the game introduced a new version of Lara Croft, as well as a brand new story that serves as a reboot to the original "Tomb Raider" game series. Starting on Jan. 16, the game will be replaced by the co-op action game "Army of Two." To note, these two Xbox 360 titles in the Games With Gold catalog has the Xbox One backwards compatibility support.

The January 2018 free games lineup will arrive in the Games With Gold catalog starting on Jan. 1, joining one title from the December 2017 list, "Back to the Future: The Game," that will be available until Jan. 15.
