It has been a month since production for "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" wrapped up and there is only less than a year to go before the movie hits theaters in 2018, following the premieres of "New Mutants" and "Deadpool 2."

While the general plot has been known for some time now, even before production started, some specifics have emerged. As revealed by "That Hashtag Show," fans can expect a grim fate for one of the mutants. This happens when Sophie Turner's Jean Grey finally loses control and the Phoenix has fully taken over her body.

A major character death will happen, as to who it will be remains to be seen. It could either be Mystique, Charles Xavier/Professor X, Beast, and Magneto. It might depend on which one of them wants to end their contract with the franchise.

As to how it will happen, apparently, when Jean's powers spiral out of control, she will wind up impaling one of the characters, instantly killing them in the process. With this in mind, it definitely leads up to the film having some major consequences for the universe moving forward.

This iconic comics storyline reached a very heartbreaking point, especially when it was first played out in "X-Men: The Last Stand," which showed Jean accidentally killing off Charles Xavier when she lost control. So, the chances of it being James McAvoy are big. Then again, Mystique could be the one meeting a terrible fate, as Jennifer Lawrence was rumored to wanting out.

It is only a matter of time before 20th Century Fox decides to drop the first trailer for the film, but it seems to be a wise move on the studio's part given what happened to "X-Men: Apocalypse" last year. Oscar Isaac's look as the all-powerful mutant was met with ridicule and criticism. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise should wait and see if Fox decides to release a trailer that will give everyone a first look into what the movie will be like.

"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" will premiere on Nov. 2, 2018.
