After sustaining a neck injury during a six-woman tag team match at the Nassau Coliseum in New York last month, English professional wrestler and actress Paige has reportedly been advised to retire from professional wrestling.

When Paige fell on the canvass after Sasha Banks kicked her in the back with both feet, WWE doctors initially thought that the youngest ever Divas Champion only suffered a stinger, causing her to lose the feeling in her extremities. Subsequently, she was not removed from the lineup for the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match.

However, a recent report from PWInsider claimed that Paige will be replaced for the Women's Royal Rumble natch and that the 25-year-old professional wrestler will be relegated to a non-physical role for the company going forward. it is also speculated that the company will be able to devise a way to write her out of the Rumble match without any physicality, similar to how Daniel Bryan is not allowed to be involved in anything physical in his current role as SmackDown General Manager.

The report also indicates that her injuries are as bad as those suffered by Hall of Famer Edge who was forced to retire in 2011. On Monday, Paige shared an emotional black-and-white photo of herself standing on the second rope to salute the WWE Universe. She also appeared on the latest edition of "Monday Night Raw," and stood at ringside when her Absolution teammate Sonya Deville won over ex-Women's Champion Banks.

The two-time Divas Champion made her return to the WWE in November after a year-long suspension for violating the company's wellness policy in August 2016. She then underwent neck surgery before being suspended again for 60 days because of her failure to comply with the company's wellness policy for a second time in October 2016.

Paige created further tension with the WWE when naked pictures and videos of herself engaging in sexual acts leaked online during her time off.
